My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Felicia is a sweet, shy girl who just needs a little patience and reassurance to feel safe. Though nervous at first, her soft wags and gentle eyes show her readiness to trust. She takes treats delicately and leans into her friends for comfort, finding security in their presence.
She’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can build her confidence at her own pace. Could you be her special someone?

Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Felicia at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her.

Behavior Notes:
Per Staff 12/16: Took Felicia out to possibly get a holiday picture for her but mainly just to spend some time with the nervous girl. When I showed her the leash she got shy and went to lay down on her bed. I spent a minute or so giving her treats through the leash loop, then looped her without a problem! She easily got out of her kennel but was a little hesitant to walk out of the TTA room with all the noise. Luckily we were just going right next door! Once we were in the eval room she found her new favorite treat from a volunteer; hotdogs! She would sit for them very patiently and took them gently. She let us put a holiday collar on for some pictures! She did not flinch about any handling (pets anywhere or reaching over head) and seemed more nervous of the shelter environment itself and the noises. Eventually sat with me and the volunteer and put the weight of her head on my leg for some affection. She is such a sweetheart.

Per Volunteer 12/16/24: Such a sweet but scared girl! Very hesitant to come out of her kennel but was able to be coaxed with treats. Definitely warms up with treats! Loves hot dogs and takes them super gently. Knows sit. Definitely overwhelmed in the shelter environment- she was spooked when the heater came on since it made a noise. Takes pets all over! Really affectionate once she’s comfortable with you. No issues returning to her kennel- she actually seemed really eager to get back to her kennel like she’s more comfortable there

12/13/24 staff behavior evaluation
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Felicia was laying on her bed when the handler approached. She was very nervous with wide eyes but when I started talking in a baby voice, she began wagging her tail against the bed and her eyes softened. She stayed laying down as I leashed her and tried to tuck her head in her arms but I secured. I tried to encourage her with more baby talk and even used some leash pressure but she wou\ldnt budge. I moved her bed forward and then tapped the floor, waiting for her to slowly step out.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally– fearful

HANDLING:
Felicia was very nervous in the eval room with us. She approached with a tense, low body, tucked tail wags, and soft eyes. She took treats gently but was too nervous to show us any tricks. She allowed all over handling and pets, but we just went super slow so she wouldn’t get scared. She met a volunteer who came into the room to get a dog meet for her. She was nervous of the new person, and pressed her body into her main handler for comfort. She allowed the new person to leash her, and walked out with them slowly.

PLAY:
Too fearful

TOYS:
