Name: Penelope
Nicknames: Sweet Pea. Peanut.
Breed: Pug
Age: ~ 2 years
Weight: 14 lbs.
Before OMD: Brought to the city shelter after she was found wandering (with a male Terrier mix)...and very pregnant. We took Penelope and her Terrier friend into rescue and, soon after, she gave birth to 8 puppies. Heartbreakingly, all 8 passed away within the first week. Penelope has since been spayed and is now ready for her forever.
Energy Level: Medium. She has more energy than your couch-potato style Pug, but is not hyper. She loves to play and sprints and zooms around when excited, but her absolute favorite pastime is napping on her humans or another dog.
What we love most: Pretty much everything.
More specifically: All that sweetness packed in her petite little self. When she gets so very excited to cuddle in the morning and at night that she wiggles her whole body around in anticipation and then snakes herself up against you, to place her little head onto the pillow right next to yours.
What she loves most: Giving people kisses any chance she can. Cuddling. Straddling other dogs so she can lay right on top of them. Play time. Stuffed Animals. Food, of course....because she IS a Pug, after all.
What she loves least: Vacuum cleaner. Hair dryer. Yelling.
Kids: She has not socialized with kids since being in rescue. We think she would do just fine with respectful kiddos who aren't overly screechy since she doesn't appreciate yelling.
Dogs: Yes! loves other dogs, both laying on them and playing with them (and she does have a very vocal play-style)
Cats: TBD but we don't expect an issue with dog-savvy cats
House trained: Mostly. Has the occasional accident. She currently goes out about every 5 hours.
Crate trained: Does not currently use a crate in her foster home.
Penelope is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and IL and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting please complete an application from our website.
