Meet Whopper Jr., a youthful 28-pound bundle of joy. His curiosity knows no bounds, and he loves to explore every nook and cranny of his surroundings. He`s friendly, always eager to make new friends, and his energy is infectious. He adores frolicking with other dogs and children, his lively spirit bringing joy to all who interact with him. Playtime is his favorite time, and his wiggly excitement is sure to bring a smile to your face. He`s expressive, communicating his feelings with adorable grunts. He`s a willing companion on a leash and might know a bit about house training. Please be patient though if he needs a refresher course. Whopper Jr.`s eagerness to love and be loved makes him the perfect addition to any home. He`s ready to fill your life with joy, laughter, and endless cuddles. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.
Dogs (over 15 lbs) $105

Special Discounts

Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
