This helps Michele's Rescue with pet care costs.
If you are looking for the perfect balance of energetic and chill, Dory is your girl! She is one year old and came to us as a sstrayout of Detroit where she was found completely emaciated. Ever since, she has made it her mission to eat all the food! She's up to 43 lbs, and probably needs to gain 5-10lbs more, but she's up to the challenge. She is extremely food motivated and eager to please. She only knows a couple commands, like sit and shake, but she should easily pick up others.
Because she was a stray, we don't know any of Dory's history or what breed(s) she is, but we think she's a mix of all the best! Aside from needing to continue to put on weight, she is completely healthy.
Dory loves everyone, but seems to especially love men, and is getting along well with the small dog in her foster home. Except for some curiosity, she hasn't paid much attention to the pet bird in the house. She is excited to meet new people and new dogs. We have not seen her around cats. She still has a lot of puppy energy and doesn't always realize how big she is, so she probably wouldn't be a good fit for houses with small children that she could knock over or steal food from. Dory does well on walks, but she does need to work on not pulling. Afterward, she would love to curl up next to you on the couch or big bed for a nap.
Dory rides well in her crate in the car. She doesn't love being in her crate at home, and will bark, but calms down after a couple minutes. Other than that, she doesn't bark a lot, but she does snore! She is currently sleeping in her crate at night and while her foster family is not home. Dory is well potty-trained on a schedule, she only had one accident when she first arrived. She has not chewed on anything she shouldn't.
Dory has a wonderful disposition and she can't wait to share her joy with a forever family. Set up your meet and greet today!
