My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Pixy is looking for her forever home. Pixy is a 6-year-old Pekingese mix who recently arrived from Texas to the snow of WNY. With a name like Pixy, of course she needs to be with Pixie Mamas Rescue! There was no way we could say know when our rescue partners reached out to us for help.

Pixy is a very sweet little lady. She tends to be shy in new situations and prefers the comfort of her couch or bed to being out in public. As a true homebody, Pixy enjoys spending her days sleeping while her family is at work. When they come home, she greets them with smiles and tail wags. Her adorable underbite makes her look perpetually happy.

Pixy is perfectly crate trained and is working on her house training. She will go outside when the weather is decent but if it’s wet or too cold, Pixy walks up to the door, smells the air, comes to a halt and runs back to her bed. She will let you pick her up and take her out but sometimes she just doesn’t want to go and then it becomes a game of “catch me”. If she won’t go outside, Pixy will use a potty pad. That is always better than scaring her trying to catch her. Pixy gets along great with other dogs and will try to play with them. She is also learning that soft toys are fun to make squeak. Pixy loves all the pets you want to give her, but once she is done, Pixy will walk away from you and lay on the couch. Such a Pekingese trait.  Pixy is not leash trained. If you do not have a fully fenced yard, just realize it will take her longer to pick up house training.

Pixy does not like loud noises or yelling. It scares her. For this reason we think a quieter home with older children (12+) would be best for her. Children who are calmer and not as likely to run and scream while playing.

Pixy did test positive for heartworm in Texas. She was treated there but will need to remain on prevention for the rest of her life. Please keep this added expense when applying.

Pixy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $450
