Hi there! I'm Queenie, a very shy sweet little 9-pound Chiweenie , I’m 6 years old. My life didn’t start off so great—I came from a scary hoarding situation in Texas where I didn’t get much love or attention. I used to be really afraid of being touched or even walking on a leash. But guess what? I’ve come a long way! Now, I like being petted by my person after I get to know you, though I’m still very shy, so I need someone who will be patient with me while I continue to learn that the world isn’t so scary, and I will need a woman as my care person, I'm okay with a man but it takes a long time for me to trust him.

I love hanging out with other dogs, big or small, and playing with my friends is one of my favorite things! I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure what I think about them. After a good play session, you can find me chilling on the couch for a nice nap. I’m also housebroken, crate trained, spayed, micro chipped and up to date on my vaccines—pretty much the full package!

Because I’m still working on building my confidence, I’d feel safest in a home with a fully FENCED-IN YARD, another dog, and either older children or none at all. It might take me a little while to get to know you, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal little buddy.

My adoption fee is $300 and I’m being fostered near Coldwater, Michigan. I’m really hoping to find a family who can give me the love and patience I deserve. Questions about me? We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
