Our sweet Blankie....her story begins in Honduras where 100's of dogs and cats were abandoned at a shelter. The conditions they were living in were horrible. Many dogs did not make it.
Luckily for Blankie and 100's of other dogs, they did survive. A group of women got together and decided to get each and every one of the dogs and cats into the USA and into rescue's that would address their medical/emotional needs. The story of this large scale rescue effort can be found on the Facebook page "Rescue the rescue animal shelter in Roatan".. Even the Disney channel got involved and made a couple of episodes covering some of the special needs dogs.

Blankie has been with Me and My Shadow in Edgewood since last April. She was Heartworm positive when she arrived. She went through the difficult and painful heartworm treatment which includes painful injections to kill off the heartworms living in her heart. She survived and is now thriving.

Blankie is a very playful girl. She knows how to have a good time no matter where she is at - in the house with her people or out in the yard chasing butterflies. She enjoys the company of other dogs but would also do great being the best buddy to her person.
She is full of joy and absolutely adorable. She is physically gorgeous but her personality makes her even more beautiful.

When we first got her, she was still very thin. She has put on some weight on but she is a naturally thin, sleek type of dog...we are pretty sure she has some whippet in her.
