Hi, I`m Gruyère! I`m a sweet little guy who is looking for my forever home. My foster family adores me and have lots of good stuff to say:

`Gru is an adorable couch potato. He’s a big napper and the most cuddliest lil peanut in the whole world. He will run to you and climb up on your chest and purr for days. He LOVES kisses and will pull your face toward him for some smooches. It’s adorable. He will also play with his littermates and run around like a kitten, but he’s very much a sofa sleeper. His little pointed ears are perfect for petting. We love him.`

Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

More about this rescue

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time. We adopt to the following counties in IL: DuPage, Cook, Lake, McHenry, Will, Kane & Kendall. If you are a pet owner, check out the Resources tab on our website!
