My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick, or hard-to-place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog!  I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more!  The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest.  Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. I LOVE MY Virtual Adopters!  JERRY IS LOOKING FOR HIS VIRTUAL FAMILY

Why am I with a rescue group? Jerry is back for his second go round with us here at CPR. Found back in 2020 as a stray running the streets with his "brother" Ben, Jerry was quickly adopted. Jerry spent four wonderful years in a home as a family pet experiencing  life in what he thought was his forever home . Sadly, Jerry has severe separation anxiety that became too much for his family to manage. They tried very hard.

As you can imagine, it's incredibly hard to go from living in a home to living in a rescue kennel environment. Sure, there is lots of cuddles and love in rescue, but it isn't the same as living in a home. And boy does it show. The happy-go-lucky dog that we adopted back is now sad and a little stoic. He’s a very quiet calm dog that longs for love and wants to constantly be with people. He loves food and is VERY treat motivated. When he is left alone, he gets bored and chews up anything in sight, including fences. Hence the separation anxiety that landed him back in rescue.

Jerry still holds out hope of finding a loving family environment and is eager to form a strong bond with his new adopters should they ever come for him. He dreams of a home where someone is home most of the day to provide him with constant companionship he craves.  His caregiver humorously describes him as needing an "emotional support human." That description of Jerry is more apt now than ever before.

He can’t understand why he’s here. We will let Jerry take it from here. “I walk well on a leash and know some basic commands like down and sit. I’m a good boy, but some people say I’m too needy. I just want to be with my human. I get anxious and worried when left alone and then I chew on stuff. People don’t like that, but I can’t help it. It’s not my fault I’m wired this way. I wish I could just find someone who wants a dog to be by their side all the time because I am the perfect dog for that! I’d go with you anywhere, on walks, trips to the dog park, or even a sidewalk café! That sounds like fun.

“I know because of my breed and my chewing that I will probably be here for the rest of my life. It makes me sad because I’m really a good boy.   The caregivers here, God bless them, are very kind and caring with me. They are working with me and helping me feel more comfortable with each and every day.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
