My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Thor came to PRBJ from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia. He is a sweet boy but takes a minute to warm up to strangers. He does not like you moving quickly at him or attempting to pick him up right away. As he is a bit reserved and timid, Thor is best in an adult only home.  After warming up, he likes to be cuddled. He is fantastic on car rides, and he is crate and house broken.  He is good with other dogs and another dog in the home for him to model after and buddy with would be ideal.

Foster update 12.16.24     Thor is a very busy little guy with lots of energy.    He loves to play with our two larger dogs but is also learning a lot from them.   He does not always pick up on cues that they have had enough!     He is definitely learning though and they run around with each other, play with toys together and roughhouse.     He does like tennis balls and runs around with them outside.    He does like to explore in the yard and pick things up so it is good to have him holding the ball so he doesn't get into anything!   He is a very curious little guy and also likes playing peek a boo around the tree with squirrels.     He is still working on full house training.    He is mostly trained but he does need to be under supervision or he tends to mark.    He sleeps in his crate and can make it all night but he will whine if he can't make it.

He does not like to be "grabbed" at and being picked up is something best left until he is familiar with someone.     He is good on leash.    He can be very underfoot - both inside and outside as he is very quick and also very low to the ground.

Go meet their pets

Although many of our pets are cared for at our facility in Sanford, many others are in private foster homes. To arrange a meet, it is best to first complete an online adoption application so that we can set up a meeting. You can access complete information on our pets plus the adoption application on our website, www.petrescuebyjudy.com. Meets and Adoptions are held at our Sanford Adoption Center. Please visit our facebook page, facebook.com/petrescuebyjudy for a full listing of events where PRBJ is represented.

More about this rescue

We are a private, non-profit rescue located in Sanford, Florida, dedicated to the rescue cats and dogs. Many of them come to us with medical needs. They are doctored to the best of our ability and resources.

Our most urgent goal is to rescue animals that are abandoned or in distress, update their vaccines, and find good new homes for them. But we attempt to be more proactive than that. It is our heartfelt desire to prevent any animal from the need to be "rescued." With that vision in mind, we take a three-prong approach through the education of pet owners and the general public about:
- proper care of animals, including correct diet of good quality food, fresh clean water, daily exercise, and lots of love
- spaying and neutering companion animals (dogs and cats) in order to prevent euthanasia and over-population
- low-cost spay/neuter clinics and wellness centers in their local community
