Opal was one of 9 babies born after Crystal the rat was rescued as a stray in Crystal Lake. none is known about her past or where she came from, but Crystal is a gentle, sweet girl who is a bit nervous to be scooped but an overall polite and lovely rat. Her babies are typical fast and zippy youngsters but have been acclimated to human hands, they will eat snacks from the hand and are polite when they need to be handled.https://www.lostwoodsas.com/adoption-application

More about this shelter

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
