My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kirby is a handsome, long haired male who has been looking for love in all the wrong places. Now he's ready to find the fur-ever love of a permanent home.
When he first came into the SPCA Kirby was sick with a parasite but is happily feeling all better after receiving treatment. Kirby has shown himself to be a very sweet guy who loves attention and cheek rubs. He can be a little shy at first and would probably do best in a quieter home without young children. He enjoys the finer things in life, like the coziest spots to lounge and nap, and yummy wet food. We're not sure if Kirby has ever lived with other animals before but could possibly have furry housemates with proper, slow introductions.

As Kirby has longer fur, he will need a person willing to help care for his coat with regular brushing. He really enjoys being brushed and loves when his luscious locks are looking fabulous. This whiskered gentleman will certainly add a touch of the debonair to his new home.
*Kirby is just recovering from a dental surgery and isn't ready to be officially adopted just yet, however local adopters may have the option for fostering to adopt while he receives his after care.

If you are interested in adding this fluffy boy to your household, you can come by the Kamloops shelter during public hours to fill out an application or apply online at the link below.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
