My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update Sunday 12/15/25

Becs Gentry (aka Frankie) has a had pretty amazing first week in the city!  She continues to be low key and loving and  her personality is beginning to show!  Becs loves to be around other dogs and has made a few dog friends!  Because of this we're seeing improvements with her confidence.  She continually puts her best paw forward - literally.  She was running alongside us on our evening walk.   You can see that life as a breeder dog was tough - but Becs spirit gets stonger everryday.  Exercise, a healthy diet and a loving environment does a dog good!  We're working on basic training - she's embracing her kennel and now sleeps soundly inside and is "getting busy" outside on a more consistent schedule.

Becs Gentry is settling into city life and is the sweetest mama Boxer!  Becs is a former breeder dog from Georgia. These dogs are very special and they often need more TLC than others due to the horrendous conditions they embraced. Becs was used for breeding, for $$, and never got to live a life. Hopefully thanks to you, she will no longer be in that position- and finally have a chance to live a great life and give someone so much joy, as well as live their best lives.  She definitley gives us joy everyday!

She's a 7 year old bundle of love who takes naps, wiggles her tail, follows us around wherever we go and gets belly rubs.  She's quiet, patient and friendly with other dogs and people - kids included.  Becs Gentry is adjusting to new environments and expanding her comfort level - she's a little timid on leash but when given encouragement we've been seeing tons of improvement. She's fastly learning commands such as "come" and "sit".

Personality & Characteristics:
My foster dog is good with other Dogs & Kids in our building and outside.
My foster dog is: Working on house training (she's going outside) and sleeps on her favorite blanket.

3 Keywords for your pup - Low Key, Loving and Curious.
Energy Level - 1 (calm)
Quiet Pup
Walking Manners - Becs Gentry can freeze up at times on leash but with encourgement and treats she's improving her walking skills and gaining more confidence.  She walks without pulling on leash.
Appetite - Good appetite.
Does the following - Has some anxiety when outside.  Sleeps through the night.
Favorite Things - Belly rubs, resting her head in our laps, following us around and wagging her tail.
Commands/Tricks - Working on commands but knows "Belly Rub".

Want to know more about Boxers?  We found this information on the American Kennel Club website.

Loyalty, affection, intelligence, work ethic, and good looks: Boxers are the whole doggy package. Bright and alert, sometimes silly, but always courageous, the Boxer has been among America's most popular dog breeds for a very long time. A well-made Boxer in peak condition is an awesome sight. Their muscles ripple beneath a short, tight-fitting coat. The dark brown eyes and wrinkled forehead give the face an alert, curious look. Boxers move like the athletes they are named for: smooth and graceful. Boxers are upbeat and playful. Their patience and protective nature have earned them a reputation as a great dog with children. They take the jobs of watchdog and family guardian seriously and do best when exposed to a lot of people and other animals.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
