My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Dash is a complicated cat who will bring joy and challenges to a cat savvy household. Let's start with the color of his fur. It multi colors in multi layers. Sometimes it looks brownish and sometimes grayish sometimes other colors. It is fascinating. His white coloring is solid and bright though - nothing complicated about that. Dash can't decide whether to be naughty or nice. He may start off nice and then decide that a hiss is appropriate for no reason. Or he may give a hiss first and then bury his head in your hand soliciting pets. He can be a very active cat but then rest nicely with his paws making biscuits. He will probably do best in a quiet household where he is the only pet. We don't think he is into sharing his kingdom. Cat savvy folks will enjoy the challenge that Dash offers and will marvel at how he will settle down once he finds out that his humans love him and life is better with the boundaries they set and the positive reinforcement training they provide. We can help you with tips and resources to work with cats like Dash. His behaviors may change but one thing that will not change is his fur color - whatever color it is. If you are intrigued, come to our shelter and meet Dash. Depending on his mood, he may hiss first and then want to be petted or he may want pets first and then he might hiss. You may be captivated by this complicated guy so bring a carrier.

At SDHS:
Dash has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new kingdom!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
