My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Peanut was brought in by his former owner.

Why Peanut migh be the one for you:
Peanut is a young guy with huge ears, white paws and pretty brownish coloring with a few white markings in all the right places to make him gorgeous. Although technically he may not be considered a puppy, he thinks he is still a puppy and that means he is full of energy and hasn't learned all the stuff for being a a good dog. Peanut is a goofy, playful dog who is looking for an active home where he can get lots of daily exercise and enrichment. Peanut has shown signs of impulse control, so he is looking for dog savvy owners who can continue his positive reinforcement training. We can help you with tips and resources for how to work with a dog like Peanut. He will do best in a quieter environment with a routine and with no kids or kids 12 or older. Want to provide a caring and loving home for Peanut to finish his transition from puppy to best friend companion? If so, come to our campus and ask to meet Peanut who is NOT peanut sized although he may think he is as he tries to crawll onto your lap. Peanut has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
