My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on December 3, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Star! Can you believe that face with its markings and downturned ears? So cute. It is like she is asking for attention and maybe asking if she can go home with you. Star wants a dog savvy household who will use positive training to curb her high energy and tendency to roam and explore. She wants to be a somebody's good dog and is willing to try her best to learn how. A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help Star get to be a "good dog" in their home and feel like part of the family! Star likes outside space but she can be an escape artist, so a secure environment (good fencing) and keeping a close eye on her would be optimal. If you'd like to learn more about this Star come visit us at the San Diego Campus today! Star has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and is ready for her new secure home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
