WV Dogs

Rachel is a gorgeous 1-year-old red female Doberman with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Rescued from a challenging situation in West Virginia with 26 other Dobermans, Rachel has embraced her second chance at life and is ready to find her forever home.

Rachel’s Highlights
Energetic & Playful: Whether it’s romping with her canine foster siblings or discovering how fun toys can be, Rachel is always ready for action. Cheese yaks? Her absolute favorite!
People-Loving Snuggler: New to living in a home, Rachel is soaking up every cuddle and learning how wonderful family life can be.
Dog-Friendly: Thrives with playful, energetic canine companions who can keep up with her.
Eager to Learn: Rachel is just starting to grasp basic commands and needs an adopter ready to provide structure, consistency, and ongoing training.

What Rachel Needs

Experienced Doberman Owner: Someone who has owned and understands the breed.

Active Lifestyle: Long walks and plenty of exercise are a must to keep Rachel happy and healthy.

Fenced Yard: A safe space to run off her energy and play.
Companion Dog: A similarly active and playful dog is a must.
Older Kids Only: Rachel isn’t a fan of young children and would prefer a home without them.
No Cats: Rachel hasn’t been tested with cats.

Rachel is a smart, loving girl who is just waiting for the right family to help her thrive. Interested?  Apply today at www.DUdobes.org

Additional adoption info

We require an application, references, vet check, phone interview, home visit and a follow up visit. We also require an adoption donation. Adopters need to travel with all family members to meet potential dogs. We do NOT transport dogs to adoptive families.
We DO take the dog back if the adopter becomes unable to care for the dog.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer organization working to rescue dogs from abusive or neglectful situations as well as from shelters/pounds. We also accept dogs through Owner Surrender process, as space permits, when the owner is no longer able to care for the best interest of the dog. We provide necessary veterinary care while they are waiting to find their permanent home. We find adoptive homes through an adoption process which includes vet checks and home visits. We work to educate and promote the importance of spaying/neutering animals.
