Meet the quirky Kano. He is a 1.5-year-old 50-lb mixed breed, with bright eyes and a big smile. Kano was originally adopted at 8 weeks old through Denton Animal Services in May of 2023. After being with his larger new family, Kano started showing that he was uncomfortable with their toddler. Through training, Kano has overcome a lot of his anxiety, but small children are just not his favorite. Older kids that are not so unpredictable, he very much loves.
Kano is a goofy, high-energy pup who loves to be with his person, whether that be laying on the couch or working an agility course building his confidence. Kano is eager to please and picks up quickly on new behaviors. Once he discovers things/people/places are not scary, he quickly enjoys being around them more and more. He gets along with the dog and cats that he currently lives with but will need slow introductions when meeting new potential housemates. Kano currently lives with an older female dog and 2 younger cats. He loves to rough house with his housemate but enjoys laying out in the sun with her as well. Kano likes to cuddle up with his humans and lay his head in your hand or lap (he is not a fan of having his feet touched so no shakes for him). An ideal home for Kano would be one with older children (if any) and a confident, active person to continue working on his training and showing him the world is a fun and safe place.
Kano is crate/leash/house trained and knows sit and place. He is an awkward, lanky, teenage pup that loves to just be with his person. He enjoys working hard for treats or a simple 'good boy'. Car rides are scary but he sits very well knowing a new adventure is awaiting him with his favorite person.
