My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approximate Date of Birth: 9/16/2017

Description:

Hi my name is Scampi and I am a sweet older guy that is looking for a furever place to call my own. Don't let my grumpy face fool you, I really love people and enjoy lots of attention. I have lived the last several years outside and was bullied by other kitties, so pardon me if I hiss when you first come into the room, as I scare easily, but rest assured I'm really glad to see you. I become a purr-fect boy and love making "biscuits" as soon as you start petting me. My favorite thing is to greet you with my downward dog yoga pose and be petted down my back. I love my wet food and will instantly warm up to you if you offer me it.

Words to Describe Me: sweet, affectionate, scared

Perfect Day: sitting next to you gets lots of scratches

Kitty's Likes: All over scratches expecially back by his tail

Kitty's Dislikes: startles when you come into the room unless you talk to him first , get kisses on his head

Fastest Way to Get Me to Purr: pet me

Favorite Treat: any wet food

  • Good with Cats: Ambivalent towards cats.

  • Good with Dogs: Unknown, but optimistic (Animal has not met any dogs.)

  • Good with Children: Can live with children over the age of 12.

  • Companion Animal: Not necessary.

Health information: All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, FeLV / FIV tested (as indicated by age), receive vaccinations appropriate for age, preventative deworming, and microchipping prior to adoption as appropriate by age.

Scampi is FIV positive which is not contagious to other cats.  FIV positive cats live with FIV negative cats.  Learn more about FIV .

Adoption Process:   Our adoptable animals are located at one of our adoption centers or in foster homes. We require interested parties to apply prior to meeting to ensure a good match. Applications can be submitted on our website at  www.savingonelife.org/adopt/apply.

Additional adoption info

We will adopt to out of state adopters but we do NOT ship animals under any conditions. You must come to us in person to meet the animal and make sure it is a mutual match. We have had many adopters come from the states around us and drive or fly with their new family member back.

Some of our "ready to adopt" felines are located at one of our Arizona PetSmart locations. https://www.savingonelife.org/adopt/locations/

We also have a small satellite operation in San Diego with adoption events on select Saturdays at the PetSmart Escondido store.

We highly recommend applying in advance in order to increase your opportunity at adopting the kitty you are interested in. Applications are processed in the order they were received. If you have questions, please email adoptions@savingonelife.org.

More about this rescue

Saving One Life is a completely foster based, volunteer run, never kill rescue. Our motto is that although we can't save the world, it makes a world of difference to the ones we do save.

If you find a litter of kittens or your cat accidentally got pregnant - please contact us if you are able to foster them at intake@savingonelife.org. We cannot take in more animals without foster homes. All supplies and vet care will be taken care of - all you have to do is open your home and heart to them until they can find homes of their own!

All of our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for felv/fiv (Cats), dewormed, and microchipped. Adoption fees range depending on the animal's age and breed. All adoption fees assist other animals in our care - we do not have any paid employees. We are a completely never kill group that provides sanctuary to any "unadoptable" animals that come into our care including hospice care.
