My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Chiquita was brought in by her previous owner.

Why Chiquita is the one for you:
Look at those eyes! Meet Chiquita, a gorgeous girl who is more than ready to find her new home. Chiquita can be shy with new people and situations, but with patience and understanding she is sure to come out of her shell. Her perfect little eyebrows may look like a makeup artist did them, but they are all natural! Chiquita is looking for a cat-free house without the hustle and bustle of younger children (ages 10+). Chiquita may do best as an only dog; However, if you do have another calm canine in the home then make sure to bring them along for a meet and greet so that we can ensure a good fit! She is an active lady who loves play time and her daily walks. She loves the water and is always down for a good game of fetch! If you're interested in adding a loyal companion to your family, grab a collar and leash and come meet Chiquita!

At SDHS:
Chiquita is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
