My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Karen is the CUTEST little shelter mutt around a year old. She was returned to our care a few weeks ago, because she is a little more puppy-ish than the adopter was expecting and they did not have the time to properly train her. Karen is not housebroken, she jumps, she chews, and she has separation anxiety. Karen has been adopted and returned twice now, and we would love to find her some stability and a home where she can stay forever. Karen is shy and submissive, but oh so sweet, and having a confident dog in the home with her would help tremendously. We believe Karen would thrive in a variety of home settings with proper support and encouragement!More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter

Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
