Meet Kira, a sweet and gentle four-month-old pup looking for a patient, loving family to help her come out of her shell. Kira's a little shy and reserved right now, and she's still learning to trust people after being under-socialized in her early months.
While she might take some time to warm up, once Kira feels safe, her soft and loving personality begins to shine. She's looking for someone who can give her the time and patience she needs to build confidence and learn how great life can be as part of a family.
Kira would do best in a calm, quiet home with someone experienced or willing to work with a shy pup. If you're ready to show Kira the kindness and care she's been missing, she'll reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and love. Are you the one to give Kira the fresh start she deserves? Primary Color: Black Weight: 11.5 Age: 0yrs 3mths 3wks

More about this shelter
Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.
The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.
After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!
Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
