My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ASPEN

  • Female, spayed
  • 1-1/2 years old
  • Pit bull terrier
  • 46 lbs.
  • Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention

Aspen is a sweet, cuddly and smart girl with a gentle disposition. She is crate trained, potty trained and is a fast learner! Her foster describes her as smart, easy to train and a good listener. Aspen was an owner surrender as her mom is entering the military and wanted her to be with a new family while she is still young. She has lived with other dogs and cats, and does well with men, women and children. At one point she lived in a home with a 3-year-old and a newborn baby. She is the sweetest and loves to snuggle! She sleeps with her head laying on the pillows and snuggled under a blanket. When she plays fetch, she runs like she’s a race car and zooms in circles! Aspen is a big pile of love and loves almost everyone on the spot! She may need a few extra minutes with adult men, but otherwise adores all people and kids. Her foster says she is very outgoing and energetic and makes an excellent emotional support animal - she will lay on you and lick your tears away. She gets super excited when you get home and wants all the attention you have to give! She likes to be super close with her people and even loves feet - she will sit on or at your feet almost any time she can!

Aspen is ready for a forever home where she can receive all the love and cuddles!

More about this rescue

LOVEPAWS was founded as an animal intake prevention program to help keep pets in homes and out of shelters. To do this, we offer various types of assistance to pet owners including our pet food pantry and our re-homing service. We help find new homes for pets whose owners cannot keep them but do not want to surrender their pet to the shelter. While our focus is on Prince George’s County, MD, we offer these services to the entire DC Metro area.

Our scope and mission has grown quickly since we were founded in 2019 and we now pull dogs and cats from open-admission, high-intake shelters in MD, VA and other Southern states. This has expanded our rescue to be able to save dogs and cats of all breeds. Our expanded mission is to save the lives of abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving and permanent homes. While we are a non-breed-specific rescue, we are a pittie-friendly rescue that has a soft spot for the pit bulls at the Prince George’s County animal shelter. They face the heartbreaking reality of the county’s pit bull ban which makes them unavailable for adoption to the public. We are committed to stepping forward whenever we can and wherever there is the greatest need.

LOVEPAWS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are an exclusively foster-based rescue with our foster network spanning MD, DC, and VA.
