My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet is not in our shelter`s care, so anyone interested in adopting must contact the owner directly. Please reach out to learn more or to set up a meeting.

This is Kenya, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois/ Shepherd mix. We have fostered her for 12 months and it is time to find her forever home. Kenya came to us in the winter of 2023 and we believe she was dumped in our area. We fully vaccinated and chipped her, but she is not spayed, however, we will pay for it once adopted. she is in excellent health and has very clean teeth. She`s medium to small size 35 pounds.

Kenya knows her basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and `go to your bed.` She is always ready to do what is asked of her, She is very playful and fetches her toys very good always bringing them back for more and do a short spurt of zoomies. She does very well on car rides and needs work on the lead. Kenya is affectionate and loyal. She is crate trained and is comfortable sleeping in her crate, or on the bed with us. She is a great sleeper (probably the best sleeper I`ve ever had) and sleeps through the night. She is house-broken and does very well on a schedule. Her favorite place is the kitchen, and she loves fruit and vegetables. Definitely a banana and cantaloupe lover and she loves green beans, peas, and broccoli.

She takes a little bit to get attached to new people, but once that happens she is very loyal, that said, she would be best as an only-dog in the home. In our experience, she is not a barker. She only barks when she`s outside and someone is on the property (not much at all), but she warms up to people fairly quickly. She`s a great companion and so very good. We are not asking for any fees, we just ask that you provide a good and loving home for her.

To meet Kenya, please email us with your interest. We would be happy to bring her to your home or to meet in a park.

Additional adoption info

In the Central Valley, we have an over abundance of homeless and unwanted pets. There are simply too many companion animals and not enough homes! But you can help. One way to start putting an end to pet overpopulation is to adopt your next pet from the Central California SPCA. In doing so, you immediately give a home to an animal that didn’t have one, and you reduce the overall number of homeless pets in our community.

You are saving a life and enhancing your own. You are also helping to support the nearly 17,000 animals that come through our doors each year.

Please note that these are sheltered, homeless animals that are not always perfect in every way. They may need extra time to adjust or have unforeseen behavioral or medical problems. While we strive for successful placement by providing as healthy, well socialized animals as possible, we can only provide any history we have received, collected, or observed from staff or volunteers during their stay. More about this shelter

As the premier animal welfare organization in California’s Central Valley since 1895, we are committed to leading and serving our community of animals and people by providing programs and services which serve all the stages of an animal’s life. These programs include Adoptions, Rescue, Humane Investigations, Foster Care, Owner Surrenders, Outreach, Humane Education, Veterinary Services, Spay/Neuter programs, and many other Pet Services.

The CCSPCA also assumes responsibility, by contract, to perform the Animal Control and Leash Law services for the City of Fresno dating back to September 1951.

The modern facilities and our caring staff offer safe refuge, nourishment, medical care, and love to every animal in our Animal Center.

We are not federally, state, or locally funded and do not receive aid from any national organization (including the ASPCA). The CCSPCA owns its own land, buildings, and equipment purchased with privately donated funds. Our funds come from our loyal supporters, allowing us to provide many vital services to our community.

Donate a bed!

Please help us to make our shelter dogs and cats more comfortable while waiting for homes. We still don't have enough Kuranda beds for all of our kennels. We need them in all sizes. If you would like to donate a bed so a dog or cat can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
