My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Artemis
Hey, did you know my name means `goddess of the hunt`? That`s pretty cool for someone as tiny as I am! I am 2-years-old and weigh only 5.2 pounds! The reason I was brought to HSHC was because my owner passed away. I lived with her all my life, along with ten other cats, three of whom I called my friends. I have always been a shy girl, and coming to the shelter has been a bit scary. I am now living at the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) and reluctant to leave the hidey holes I curl up inside. However, when the interviewer lady (IL) kneeled to look into the doughnut I was in, I made the tiniest of meows and came out. She was patient, let me sniff her hand, and didn`t come on too strong. After a little pause, I approached her, crawled into her lap, and snuggled, pushing my head into her elbow. I am a black and white tuxedo cat who is already spayed and litterbox savvy. My new owner(s) will be most successful with my adoption if they give me plenty of time to feel settled and comfortable. A gradual introduction to any other pets is critical to my peace of mind. If you go to the SKCC, be patient and let me come to you. I have a distinct probability of becoming an outstanding lap cat! 12-16-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
