Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hamlet came to Longmeadow when his previous owners had to move and could not take him with them. After his routine quarantine ended, he was brought up to the big barns and evaluated by our groundwork team. This gentleman of a horse passed his groundwork course with flying colors and was soon ready to be seen by our trainers!
During his riding evaluation, our trainers rode him at the walk, trot, and canter in our indoor arena. His trot was described as `animated` and a bit bouncy, while his canter was an absolute dream, smooth and effortless—impressive for an older man! His previous owner had mentioned that he would occasionally act up with kids, specifically bucking during speed events or when ridden by smaller children, so he we would not suggest him as a kid`s horse. However, he is perfectly suited for being a lead-line horse, making him a great companion for beginners in a controlled setting and with a solid handler. Hamlet is somewhat dependent on his equine buddies for comfort, so we think he would do best in a herd or with other equine around. Our trainers deemed him fit for an intermediate rider, but it should be known that he’ll need to gain a bit of weight before being ridden regularly. If not being ridden, the pasture pet life would be more than okay to this old man!
Adoption Fee: $600 Height: 15hh Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 185bs
