My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you love black and dark brindle dogs, this little girl should be at the top of your list of dogs to consider when adopting. Buffy is beautiful - wavy, glossy, soft black fur with dark brindle highlights and a splash of white on her chest.

We saved her from an overcrowded shelter down south where her and her brother weren’t receiving much interest because they were thought to be very scared. They went in foster together down south, awaiting a PA foster home. Buffy just arrived ahead of her brother and while she was shy upon arrival, her foster family has watched her bloom over the last five days.

Once Buffy had a chance to take in her new surroundings, she transformed into a wonderful girl. She very easily integrated into a multi dog home and has been submissive. Her tail is constantly wagging, she has a wiggly butt and she always has the best smile on her precious face.

She loves toys, playing with other dogs, investigating and laying ON TOP OF her person whenever she can. She loves attention. She is full of promise and is going to make a wonderful companion for an adopter. So far, she has been a perfect mix of play and snuggle.

Buffy is doing excellent with crate training and pretty good with potty training for just having started. She just started leashed walks and while she is a bit shy about exploring new areas, she moves forward with an inquisitive spirit.

Buffy is up to date on all of her vaccines and will be spayed 12/17. Buffy is being fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and will be able to join her furever family on or after 12/21/2024.

Submit Application

You can find our application at www.mostlymuttz.org.

2.
Home Check

All persons living in the household are required to be present.

3.
Approve Application

You will receive an approval email from our organization within several days of having your home visit completed.

4.
Meet the Pet

You will be able to adopt at this meeting if it is a match.

5.
Pay Fee

Adoption fees vary based on dog. We accept cash, PayPal or Venmo. The contract will also be signed at this time.

6.
Take the Pet Home

The Initial review of your application will occur within 72 hours.

Please contact your vet authorizing them to release information to us.
Also, let your references know we’ll be calling.
****Failure to take these steps may delay the process

Once your references have been contacted, someone will contact you to schedule a home visit.
After your home visit you will receive an email informing you of your approval.

Schedule a meet/adoption. You will be able to finalize your adoption of the dog at this meeting.

Please read your contract thoroughly before the meeting.

You will be required to send an update at 2 weeks, 6 months, and annually. The email addresses for those updates will be at the bottom of the contract.

If it has been determined that training is a requirement for the dog you’re adopting this will be noted on the contract. You will be required to submit verification of training completion.

Payment by cash is due at the time of adoption. If you choose to use PayPal, payment should be made prior to the meeting/adoption. You will need to forward the electronic email you receive from PayPal, to mostlymuttz@gmail.com to confirm your payment before the meeting/adoption.

Adoption Fees:

Altered puppies (8 weeks - 1 year old): $525

Unaltered puppies (8 weeks - 1 year old): $450 (A $100 sterilization deposit is required in addition to fee. This is refunded upon verification of altering.)

Adults (1yo-7yo): $375

Seniors (7+ years old): $250

Adult dogs who have been with us for over 6 months: $188

We believe that every dog, regardless of health, deserves at least a fighting chance to live, to love and to be loved for the entirety of their life. At Mostly Muttz Rescue, we often choose to save dogs suffering from curable illnesses within the shelter system rather than rescuing dogs that will be easy to place.
