Nicol lost his home and was living with his owner in a truck. She contacted the park maintenance man for help, and he contacted us. We were able to get him into our care right before Thanksgiving. He is about 6 months old, up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped, and FIV/FELV negative.

PERSONALITY:
Nicol is a very sweet and friendly kitty. Since he has been living in multiple places over his short life, he adapts easily and is very chill.

LIKES/DISLIKES/OTHER ANIMALS/CHILDREN:
Nicol is an amazing cat. The first day his foster mom met him, he came right up to her and rubbed against her for pets. He likes to be held and cuddled, he likes to be pet, and he likes to stick close to his person for attention. He enjoys smooches and will rub his face against his foster mom for more attention. He is an excellent biscuit maker, and will do them in the air or on multiple surfaces. He is very playful. He loves his mouse toy and pompom. He also walks on a leash. While on his leash, he loves to dig in the sand, and chase butterflies and bees. (He is not an outdoor cat; however, he would love to go on supervised adventures on his leash or have a screened in area for bird and butterfly viewing!)

Nicol has been around cats and/or dogs at all points in his life. He does well with them, but will need a slow introduction so he can get used to them. He has had lots of changes over the past few months! He hasn’t been around children while in our care, but we think he would do fine with cat friendly/calmer children.

***Please remember; our cats have a low thirst drive and NEED the moisture in the wet food. Since wet food is 75% moisture and dry food only 10%, that is huge for our felines. Cats need wet food daily to avoid a lot of dehydration related medical problems long term like urinary tract issues which can lead to litter box avoidance and kidney disease or obesity issues linked to diabetes..

VETTING: Nicol is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and combo tested FIV/FELV negative. He has 30 day flea treatment on and has been dewormed.

More about this rescue

Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
