Meet Rupert, a handsome wire-haired mystery mix of about 2.5 years old. With his soulful eyes and distinguished coat, Rupert has a unique charm that's sure to capture your heart. While his past remains a mystery, we're learning more about him every day. Rupert is a sensitive soul who can be a bit nervous and fearful in new situations. He's looking for patient and understanding adopters who will give him the time and space he needs to adjust and learn to trust.

Rupert thrives on gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement. He'll need a calm and predictable environment where he can feel safe and secure. Because Rupert can be unsure in certain situations and needs his space respected, he would do best in an adult-only home. Meet the Pet

At the shelter, adopters will be able to meet a maximum of three (3) pets per visit, with ten (10) minutes per pet.

Take the Pet Home

Adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Adopters will not be able to submit applications to adopt animals in advance, or place adoption holds on animals.

Adopters will be able to meet a maximum of three (3) pets per visit, with ten (10) minutes per pet.
We will be unable to assist with pet-to-pet meets. Please keep your furry friends at home, adoptable pets will not be able to meet resident pets at the shelter.
Prepare enough time for your visit. Adopters should expect that it may be up to two (2) hours at the shelter to process an adoption, including meeting pets, an adoption consultation, and waiting periods. Wait times may be significantly longer on weekends.

More about this shelter

Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) is the only open door shelter in Portland. We are the primary agency responsible for lost pet care, animal abuse investigations and animal rescue in Multnomah County. We also offer dog and cat licensing, lost and found pet services, and animal adoptions through our shelter in Troutdale. MCAS is a division of the Multnomah County Department of Community Services (DCS).
