My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lou with his soulful but happy looking face. It is a face that is saying he is ready for his next chapter in life and the sooner, the better. His flopped down ears and coat of many brindle colors add to his handsome look. He is easy to leash and walks well on a leash. He will need some additional training to be in the "really good dog" category and we can help you with tips and resources to further train Lou. Lou may want to learn some show off tricks and his additional training will make that easier. Lou will like a home with good outdoor accessibility and space because he is a big dog and has a lot of energy. A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help Lou get used to his new home and feel like part of the family! If you'd like to learn more about Lou come visit us at the San Diego Campus today!

At SDHS:
Lou has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home and the next chapter in his life. He hopes it is with you.!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
