My mother-in-law rescued Toby in 2014. They were close. He was happy just to lay next to her all day in her recliner. They slept together at night. He requires very little. She was hard of hearing so he does bark when he hears sounds. At 97 we've had to put her in an assisted living facility. We live in a condo and are only allowed the 2 dogs we have.
