My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Corn Muffin is a shy, nervous boy who’s still figuring out the world around him. He’s a little on the thinner side, but he’s very gentle with treats and enjoys being close to people. Corn Muffin seems housebroken and loves being by your side for comfort.

He’s very sweet with slow, gentle introductions, allowing pets once he’s comfortable and feeling safe. He had a great meet with another dog, Milway, and showed interest in play. Corn Muffin is still building his confidence and will thrive in a calm, loving home where he can continue to blossom.

Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Corn Muffin at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him.

Behavior:
12/18/24 volunteer notes: Tried to walk CM but had a very difficult time getting him out of his kennel since he’s sooo scared. He allowed me to loop him very easily, but then would not step outside of the kennel. If I applied any leash pressure he would pancake immediately and start to back away. Very treat motivated bit and takes treats very gently! He really wanted to come out for treats, but always seemed too scared to take the leap. Finally got him out with the help of a staff member but then he pancaked several times while walking outside. Got on the ground with treats and was able to coax him forward a foot at a time but he seemed so fearful, so I just let him go back into his kennel. Poor scared boy, would love to see him open up in a safe home!!

12/13/24 per volunteer- Corn Muffin is such a sweet boy. he is on the thinner side, but still is very gentle with treats. He’s not interested in toys right now, as he’s still figuring out what the world is like. He gets startled easily, but doesn’t react just jumps a bit and observes his surroundings. With consistent and slow intros to the world, he will continue to blossom! He does seem housebroken as he waited until he was outside on grass to relieve himself. He wants to be right by your side, it seems he’s more confident around people and other dogs. he allowed pets all over, but slow intros, once he realizes your pets are gentle and nothing to be scared of, he relaxes a bit more. He has a great dog meet with Milway and wanted to play! It was a very brief meet as Millay is injured and we didn’t want any pain to occur, but Corn Muffin definitely would have hung out with his pal if he could have! A super sweet and gentle boy

12/10/24 staff behavior evaluation:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Corn Muffin was standing at the divider of his kennel when the handler approached. He was just standing in the middle and was nervous to step fully over. The handler used treats to coax him to the front which worked well. He allowed for easy leashing and needed lots of coaxing and treats to exit and then walk through the kennels.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally, very nervous in the kennels

HANDLING:
In the room Chicken Little was timid but friendly with all three of us in the room! He allowed all over handling and would lean in when petting him, but needed a gentle approach with lots of baby talk and low wags. He warmed up a lot with treats and gained confidence as time went on.

PLAY:
No interest, too stressed

TOYS:
Interest but no possession

12/9/24 volunteer notes: corn muffin is scared of the barrier, he kept wanting to get in his bed but wouldn’t cross the barrier, I forgot to leave a blanket in the back of his kennel instead
