Meet Cody, a stunning black kitten with a playful spirit and a heart full of potential! Cody is one of seven kittens who were surrendered to Bloomington Animal Control, and while he started out as the shyest of his siblings, he has come a long way in learning to trust humans and other animals.
At first, Cody was very cautious and fearful, but with patience and love, he’s come out of his shell and become more confident. He’s still a little shy around strangers, but once he feels comfortable, he’s a sweet and affectionate kitten who loves to play and explore.
Cody loves toys and enjoys spending time with his two siblings. He’s a big fan of his cat scratcher and enjoys lounging and climbing on the cat tree. Although he’s still learning to be fully comfortable with being held, Cody has a very loud motor when he’s being pet, showing just how much he enjoys attention when he’s ready for it.
Cody also has a love for food and sometimes adds a bit of extra flair to mealtime. He’ll put his paw in his food dish or swat at his siblings if they try to eat from the same bowl – a little hint that he likes to keep things to himself when it comes to tasty treats!
Recently, Cody has become quite vocal when his sister is getting attention and he’s not. This playful little guy is learning to voice his opinions, and with the right family, he’ll quickly become a more confident and loving companion.
Cody would thrive in a home where he can continue to build trust and enjoy the company of other animals or his siblings. If you’re looking for a sweet, slightly shy kitten with lots of personality who’s ready to show you his true colors, Cody might just be the perfect addition to your family!
Cody is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
