Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This handsome blue-eyed sweetheart is named Bailey. He exudes the joy of the season; loves to cuddle, roll in the snow, enjoy a bully stick, and be with his people. He's an 11-year-old neutered male Siberian that came into our care from Animal Care and Control. He has lived with other dog, cats and kids and greets strangers as old friends. He has great house manners and would love a home for the holidays ( and beyond!)

We require an adoption application and select potential adopters based on how well they meet the needs of the animal. A home visit is an essential part of the process prior to a trial placement. Animals are placed on a trial basis prior to finalizing the adoption. We do require an adoption contract that contains a provision for returning the animal to Friends of Pets if there are circumstances that requires the adopter to give up the pet.
All of our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. If a dental cleaning is needed that also is done prior to advertising the animal on our web page..

Go meet their pets
Our pets are available for viewing online at www.friendsofpets.org
Applications are screened to find the best fit for the needs of our cats and dogs and those applicants are then invited to meet the animal in-person and determine whether they want a trial placement. By taking care with applications we greatly reduce the number of animals returned to us.

More about this rescue
Friends of Pets (FOP) was established in 1989 and is a well-known and respected rescue group. FOP was formed to increase the rates of adoption and decrease the rates of euthanasia at the Anchorage Animal Control Center. We work to place rescued dogs and cats in loving life-long homes where the needs of the animal will be met. We rescue and place 100-150 animals per year.
We work to increase awareness of responsible pet ownership and the positive impact of spaying and neutering of pets. We participate in family-friendly events in the community (Kid's Day, Reading Rendezvous, etc) to educate the public on these issues.
We provide a spay/ neuter assistance program and are helping to underwrite 10 spay/neuters per month at Anchorage Animal Care and Control.
We are a 100% volunteer organization and depend on our volunteers to carry out our mission of making Anchorage a place where all animals are wanted, loved and cared for.
We always need volunteer help to cuddle kitties, walk dogs and assist at our fund-raising events!
