My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Local Adoption Only: Kate must be adopted in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) by a family who can commit to taking her to follow-up vetting appointments. The cost of these appointments is covered in her adoption donation.***

Meet Kate! This 43-lb Labradoodle is 8 years old. According to her fosters, Kate is simply great!

  • General Behavior:  Kate is a sweet, well-behaved, wonderful dog. She is very smart and aims to please. After a long day of playing and fun, she will go to her dog bed in her foster’s room and sleep through the night. Now she needs someone who can boost her confidence and who can show her how wonderful a dog’s life can be.

  • Likes & Dislikes:  Kate likes to play with her foster doggie brother all day long. She especially enjoys tug of war games and she loves toys. She may even love stuffed animals too much, as they don’t last long around her.

  • Training: Kate is a smart cookie who generally has good basic manners. She is housetrained if let out regularly and is a good passenger on car rides. She just needs a bit more practice leash walking.

  • Medical: Kate currently takes her monthly heartworm meds, plus a ½ tablet of Apoquel once a day for her allergies. (This costs about $42 a month.)

  • Other Animals: Kate loves playing with other dogs, big or small. However, she does not like cats.

  • Children: Sweet Kate is amazing with children of all ages!

  • Home: Kate is learning to walk on a leash but would do best in a home with a secure back yard or some green space to sniff around. She is currently able to climb 17 stairs to the second floor, although she is slower on cold days.

  • Grooming: Kate is currently being bathed with medicated shampoo every 10 days, but this treatment should be temporary. Apart from that, she will need regular baths and brushing.

  • Overall: Kate will make a wonderful companion for an active family who can love her forever.

Is Kate the sweet best friend your life has been missing? Do you live in the Central Florida region? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed, and she has just had her teeth cleaned.  Her adoption donation is $375.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
