My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Butters was brought in by a community member on November 10, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Butters! Butters isn't just a cat-she's a survivor with a backstory that rivals any action movie. With a healed pelvic injury, a jaw that once sported a stylish wire accessory (now fully healed and removed), and a Grade II/VI heart murmur that doesn't slow her down, she's basically the James Bond of felines. Adding to her story, Butters has broken upper canines and will need dental extractions, but she's not letting that dampen her "new lease on life" phase. Butters is ready to audition for the role of your permanent sidekick. With resilience, charm, and an undeniable flair for drama, she's stealing hearts left and right. If you're searching for a cat who embodies determination and grace, Butters might just be your girl. Come meet her today! And don't forget a cat carrier for her safe journey to her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
