My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.little miss momma looking for a home!

MONA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Mona         Best Guess for Breed:  Lab/Terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:   3 years old as of November 2024          SEX:  female

Approximate Weight:  30lbs as of November 2024

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven’t seen Mona with cats or kids, but she can be tested!

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Special Adoption Considerations: Because Mona is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Mona in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.

Mona is Looking For:  Mona did a great job of raising her babies, Moonshine, Magdaline, and Munchkin, and now she's looking for her own forever home.  Now that her mothering days are behind her, Mona is excited to explore the world and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. Whether it’s going for quiet walks, lounging by your side, or simply enjoying a cozy spot in the sun, Mona is ready to be your loyal companion. She is eager to find a loving family who will give her the happiness she deserves!

What My Foster Says About Me:  She is extremely quiet and loves her crate where she has some cuddly blankets. She sleeps all night in it and doesn't bark or chew. It has taken her a little bit to settle in with my other older dogs because she always wants to be the one who is next to her people. But she is now eating in her crate when they eat and goes out to potty with them. We are working on building up more time together (mine don't really play much anymore and I think she'd be happy to have a younger playmate as long as she gets lots of human attention too!). She is super cute in her coat and likes to go for walks even in the cold weather. She's still a little skittish but not overly afraid of strange house noises or loud noises outside. I'm looking forward to her coming out of her shell more!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
