VOLCOM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Volcom and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (12/29/24) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!
Name: Volcom Best Guess for Breed: Retriever/Shepherd mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 months as of December 2024 SEX: male
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 12.8 pounds as of 12/05/2024
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.
Currently Living at: D.C. area foster home!
Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Volcom would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.
Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
Volcom is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Volcom! Me and my littermates, Volvo, Valentino, Volky, Victory and Vera, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me?
What My Foster Says About Me: This guy recently made the big move from Puerto Rico to the mainland, and he’s still getting used to the whole “colder than a freezer” thing. He’s adjusting, but he’s taking it one paw step at a time. Once he’s all warmed up—both to the weather and to you—he’s an absolute sweetheart.
Volcom doesn't need to be the center of attention but will happily take all the belly rubs and snuggles you’re willing to dish out. He’s already doing great with leash training, but let’s be honest, sometimes he’s more interested in sniffing every blade of grass and investigating every mystery in the neighborhood than actually walking. But hey, that’s all part of the charm, right? He's on the case, sniffing his way through life!
When he’s not busy being the world’s cutest detective, Volcom loves a good challenge. His favorite pastime? Puzzle games and slow feeders. (We’re talking next-level brain workouts here, folks.) . And if you thought he was all brains and no brawn, think again—he’s a squeaky toy enthusiast. He’s totally obsessed with squeaky balls, squeaky this, squeaky that… basically, if it squeaks, Volcom’s on it like a dog on a tennis ball.
Oh, and did I mention he’s highly food motivated? He’s already mastered “sit,” but I can tell he’s ready to level up. His brain is just waiting for you to teach him more tricks, and he’s all in when it comes to food rewards. He’s also a hit with the neighborhood kids who can’t get enough of giving him pets and playing with him.
So, if you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts brainiac and goofball—who can keep you on your toes with puzzles, squeaky toys, and a whole lotta love—Volcom is your boy.
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.
Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than FEBRUARY 04, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
