Hi, I’m Buttercup! I’m a 2-year-old Basset mix. Found as a stray, my past is a bit of a mystery, but I think I spent most of my life as an outdoor dog. Now that I’ve discovered home life, I’m loving all the cuddles, cozy couch naps, and attention—it’s a whole new world for me!
I’m making great progress with house training, though transitioning from outdoor life has been a learning curve. I’m crate-trained and sleep soundly through the night. I would do best in a home with a fenced yard. I’m happiest in a home with another dog. I get along with all dogs but feel most comfortable with those closer to my size or with gentle personalities. Cats? No problem—I’m fine with them, too!
I love people and thrive on being a pampered pet. I’m great with school aged children.
I’m a quiet girl and don’t bark much. Instead, I make the cutest little chirps and whines. I’m also a quick learner, especially when there are treats involved.
I’m a sweet, loving, and gentle soul who’s sure to warm your heart. Contact BROOD today, and let’s spend the cold winter snuggling together! My adoption fee is $300.00.
**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog’s age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD’s adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 12/07/2024
