Gomez is a handsome black Domestic Short Hair male cat, born approximately November 26, 2022. One night, in a fancy area of Miami, 2 beautiful kittens were first seen outside a restaurant by a family. The mom was so taken by the two that she decided to try and rescue them. She returned and was able to catch the beautiful little black one pretty quickly, but his sister the tabby proved to be a 2-week challenge. She reached out to us to please take them. We agreed to help and named the first one Gomez! She tried for over 2 weeks and finally on a Wednesday she lucked out and got the gorgeous tabby girl... so we named her... Wednesday (she since has been adopted)! Gomez is our playful and loving black charmer, with a tiny bit of white whisks right on his chest...that is his purr spot! Just pet him there and enjoy the Gomez purring symphony! Oh, he also melts when you rub his belly. Gomez loves toys, with his personal favorites being the 'wand' type, or other kitties, always in motion. He likes to supervise housework... loading the dishwasher or folding laundry - he is there with a helpful paw.
To everyone's broken heart, our beautiful Gomez had been diagnosed with FIP. (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). The virus was fatal until the recent past, but through extensive research at UC Davis, new meds and treatments were developed that have successfully treated many cats. Since there was hope for Gomez, Lady Luck was on board! His treatment started on 8/10/23 with daily injections for 84 days. Bloodwork was done monthly to track improvement and Gomez recovered! The treatment was successful and Gomez went into a 3 month observation period to ensure he stayed healthy and he did! Gomez is completely done with his treatment and is ready for adoption once again! He can be around other kitties, as he has been with no issues.
Gomez is neutered, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested negative, fecal tested negative, dewormed, and vaccinated, including rabies. He is litter box trained.
Gomez is located at the Good Luck Cat Cafe (901 Progresso Drive, #202, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304). For more information contact laura@ladyluckanimalrescue.com or text 954-562-6857. You can apply at ladyluckanimalrescue.org under the “Adopt/Foster” Tab.
