Leland is shy and timid but wants to trust and love. In just a short time at his foster home, he's already making great progress and starting to seem more at ease. He'll need a patient home who can give him the time he needs to relax and open up. Leland is a typical shepherd-type dog: he is suspicious of everything, he is very food-motivated, and he is very intelligent. Because of his timid nature, leash walking is still a work in progress so Leland will need a home with a fenced-in yard as he continues to gain confidence. He will do best with a confident dog in the house to show him the ropes and to be a playmate. Leland is still a puppy and has more to learn about how to be the best dog, and right now he doesn't realize his size. He'd do best in an adult home or one with older children. It takes a little time for Leland to warm up, but once he trusts, he loves getting pets, giving kisses, and cuddling. He's a super sweet boy underneath--all he needs is a little patience, support, time, and LOVE. He's a big fan of toys--especially the squeaky ones! He loves to pull them all out of the toy basket for some playtime. He'll be an amazing dog for someone understanding and patient who will give him the time to blossom and shine!
