My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Joe was brought in by a community member.

Why Joe might be the one for you:
Oh, Joe, what stories you have to tell us with your solid black (or is it dark brown) shiny fur. Joe, you have the most perfect sized and shaped ears. Did you know that? And, your eyes are intriguing as they seem to be telling us that you are ready for your next chapter in life! You have been around enough to know what you want. You want a warm household with adults who love and care for you. You want people who will give you belly rubs when you roll over. You want petting all over. You want warm beds, good food, toys and treats. Most of all, you want to sunbathe - yes, that is correct. A place in the sun is high on your list. You are a big guy so you need space. Although you like quietness and prefer a calm household, you can be verbal when you want something. To learn more about you, and hear the stories you have to tell, caring folks should come to our shelter and ask for you - Joe.
Joe has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and is ready for his new home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
