Meet Honey Bee ACCT-A-208634! This shy sweetheart is a 2-year-old female who came in as a stray on 12/8. The finder noted that Honey Bee was “shy, scared, cuddly, scared with strangers, friendly with animals and friendly with children.”
Behavior Notes:
Per volunteer on 12/9: Honey bee is a sweet affectionate girl. I had her in the behavioral room for a little while and she was an absolute gem. She just wanted cuddles. She wasn’t too interested in treats or toys just in pets! I had no problems taking her out or putting her back in her kennel.
12/9 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Honey Bee
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Honey Bee was curled up on her bed and looked up with scared eyes. She popped up and came to the front with tucked wags and wide eyes. She was trembling and had a C shaped mouth but allowed easy overhead leashing.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING:
In the room, Honey Bee came into the room with a tucked tail and a smile. She sought lots of comfort from the handler immediately and followed her everywhere. She solicited for comfort and when the handler stopped petting her she began becoming more wiggly and pushed her body further. She allowed all the handling and greeted me with nice sniffs. She refused treats and went back to trembling. She tried to be brave and run around the room, play with toys and walk around on her own but was nervous and would retreat back. She gave mid level wags and gained some confidence over time.
PLAY:
Tried to engage in play
TOYS:
Shows interest but no possession
Per staff 12/9: “trembling in kennel, very nervous”
Medical Notes:
Per an intake exam on 12/6: Honey Bee was found to be in good general health. Staff noted that she “possibly had puppies due to nipple shape” and that she was “bright, alert, responsive, very sweet but go slow because she's fearful.”
