My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, my name is Dora and I am a small senior Chihuahua. No one knows exactly how old I am and a girl shouldn't be asked that question. I have lived outside in a rabbit cage all my life until finally, I was given to rescue. I LOVE my foster home. I live with foster mom and foster dad, their Chihuahua and my friend Diego that was rescued with me. Since being here, my feet feel so much better and I can walk again. I get lots of attention and regular meals. I have learned I love being a house dog. I am looking for a quiet home with no young children and lots of of other pets. I deserve to be treated like a queen and in return, I will be loyal and grateful. If you can be my angel, please apply to meet me at audrainhumanesociety.org. Oh and I almost forgot, I have a heart murmur and I take daily medications. The rescue people can explain all that but don't let that stop you, I feel great.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

You can view the animals available for adoption on the Audrain Humane Society website or on Facebook at Pet Pals: Audrain Humane Society

When you find an animal you are interested in adopting submit an adoption application. The application will ask for basic information about you and your household, as well as your experience with pet ownership.

If your application is approved, you will be notified and a meet and greet scheduled where the adoption fees will be paid in full and the adoption contract signed.

Take your new pet home! The staff member will provide you with instructions on how to care for your new pet and will answer any questions you have.

Please note that the Audrain Humane Society may require additional steps in the adoption process, such as a home visit or a reference check.
