Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Maria was rescued from one of those awful puppy mills. She is learning to be a dog. She is shy with people except kids.
When Maria first arrived she sought after quiet and dark places to hide. She is spending more time out in the open now chooses to lay on a dog bed instead of the tight, dark spaces. She is figuring out toys and for now enjoys the hard plastic chew toys.
She is very anxious when she goes outside and has been using potty pads in the house. She will need a family that is kind, patient, and understanding of her insecurities.
Maria will require a secure physical fenced yard as she is considered a flight risk. She also needs a canine companion to learn from.
Maria's adoption is 375. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.

We are a licensed foster based rescue. We rescue mostly seniors and special need dogs as these are normally the first to be euthanized in shelters.
Our Mission:
To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted dogs and find the best home for each dog in our care. Our belief is all healthy and treatable dogs, regardless of breed or age, have the right to life, happiness, and love.
