My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny is a resilient 1-year-old, 63-pound male who lives up to his name as a “Ray of Sunshine.” Rescued from a tough neighborhood in Florida, he overcame a challenging start, including surviving on the streets in scorching July weather and recovering from a broken hip after FHO surgery. Fully healed with just a slight limp, Sunny radiates energy and joy, loving his daily walks, playtime, and snuggle sessions. He gets along well with most dogs, though he thrives best with those his size and an active family willing to engage him physically and mentally.
While curious about cats, his playfulness might be overwhelming for small ones, so careful introductions are key. Sunny is potty-trained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands like sit, paw, stay, and no, with ongoing work on his recall. A fantastic sleeper, he’s been a stellar snuggle buddy in his foster mom’s bed, resting soundly through the night. Sunny is ready for his forever home, where his boundless love and bright spirit can shine as a cherished family member.

**Sunny will be ready to meet with starting Tuesday 12/10!**

More about this shelter

At Darbster Rescue, our goal is to place kittens, cats, and dogs with great, forever homes in New England. The pets are primarily from South Florida and other southern states where the euthanasia rates are very high. Our shelters are in New Hampshire which has a strong demand for pets relative to supply and where shelters like ours are strictly no kill operations. Our animals will go to their new homes spayed or neutered, UTD on shots and a clean bill of health from FL and NH. We are here to help everyone look for the perfect match for themselves and their family.
