My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beau is a 1-year-and-4-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with a heart as big as his 76-pound frame. This sweet boy is a bundle of joy who adores playtime, long walks, and adventurous car rides. At the end of the day, Beau is all about snuggles—he’s a true cuddlebug who will happily lounge by your side.
While Beau’s loving personality shines bright, he’s still working on building his confidence. He’s looking for a patient and understanding family to help him feel secure as he grows into an even more incredible dog. Beau could be the only dog in your life, or he may benefit from another canine friend to help him gain that confidence!
If you’re ready to provide the love, guidance, and encouragement Beau needs, he’ll reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and affection.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do have a screening and application process. Protectors of Animals requires a veterinarian check before any adoption.

One of our experienced Placement Team members will meet with you and show you the cat, kitten or dog you are interested in, or will guide you towards cats, kittens or dogs that are appropriate for your home environment. We will discuss with you the background of the cat, kitten or dog and what special needs or requirements he or she may have. We will happily take the time to carefully answer any questions you have or discuss any concerns.

POA does not charge an adoption “fee.” It costs POA anywhere from $100 and $400, or more, per dog or cat or kitten to make them well and prepare them for adoption. We are an all-donation organization and we rely on adoption donations to help us continue our work. When you adopt a cat or dog, we will ask for a donation. Our adoption donation information can be found at our website at www.poainc.org.

More about this rescue

We are a NO-Kill rescue and shelter for cats and dogs.

POA was formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs. Today we are one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations in the northeast. POA is here to stay! You will not find a more dedicated, experienced or thorough resource for improving the lives of Connecticut cats and dogs. We confine our focus to our home state because this is where our infrastructure and resources reside, as well as our leadership.
