My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME: Cinders
BREED: DSH
BIRTHDAY: Summer 2024
ADOPTION FEE: $100

This beautiful girl was found in a box in York city along with more than a dozen other kittens. Several were sick and several had already died, and several were bottle babies in immediate need of feeding and care. Our friends at Sam's Beasties took in most of this group, but with no help from the York SPCA or other rescues, we wanted to help as much as we could. We squeezed in 4 kittens: 3 teeny tinies who were obviously the same age/litter, and one slightly older kitten. They were sneezy and underweight but otherwise healthy and surprisingly friendly. After growing a little and clearing quarantine, we let the family loose in the GOT house. Now they run around like overgrown mice, getting into trouble and getting underfoot, and the joy and laughter they have brought to the house has been absolutely wonderful.

Cinders was the largest kitten we took in, and although she appears to be related to Ash, Dove, and Smudge, she is clearly not from the same litter. Pictures do not do her justice: she has a lovely round face with big eyes, and looks like an exotic breed. Cinders loves playing with her siblings and she REALLY loves snuggling with the adult cats here. She has been like a mommy to the little ones and always keeps them well groomed, but we think she misses her own mommy. Cinders and her siblings will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped December 16th and will be ready to leave anytime after that.  These kittens must be adopted out in pairs . They are very friendly with other cats and are also very comfortable with friendly dogs of all sizes.

More about this rescue

Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of senior dogs and cats in the Southern Pennsylvania/Northern Maryland areas.
We believe that senior animals deserve loving, caring homes where they will be taken care of the rest of their days.

Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue was founded in 2015 by a small group of animal lovers. Years of rescue showed us that the senior demographic in shelters is often the most overlooked and highly euthanized. These animals are discarded because of failing health, new pets in the family, a lack of time for attention and care, and countless other reasons which Good Old Tails finds deplorable. Pets are a commitment for life, not until they are an inconvenience. We are dedicated to saving as many senior dogs and cats as we can, and providing them with love and care so that they can live out the rest of their days with dignity and happiness. Some of these animals may never leave our rescue, and their foster families will be the ones to say the last good-bye. Others will go on to find families of their own. Whatever the outcome, we have made the promise to them that they will never again be alone.
