My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sonny Babe is bonded to another dog, Pepa, a seven-month-old female puppy (see their photo) and they need to be adopted together. Please check out Pepa's profile, too!

Sonny is a happy-go-lucky, easygoing fellow. He likes to give kisses and loves cuddling and hanging with his people. Very playful and energetic, ideally he would have a fenced yard and another dog to play with of similar energy level, or a very active family.

Sonny's favorite game is tug-of-war. He plays very well with the resident dogs, and is respectful of the bird in his foster home. Even when the bird settles on top of Sonny's crate, Sonny pays no mind!

Sonny is crate-trained and house-trained. When he wants to go for a walk, he takes the leash in his mouth, has been trained to sit at the door before going out, and then is ready to go!

Very food-motivated, he is easy to train. Sonny knows Sit, Down, and Paw, and is working on other commands. If you throw a treat in his crate, he goes right in!

PHYSICAL
Sonny Babe has a short tan coat with white on his face, chest, and feet; and floppy ears.

HEALTH
Sonny Babe is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative.

HISTORY
Sonny Babe had an owner who could no longer care for him. His sibling, Cher, was adopted and he has now bonded with Pepa!

Our adoption coordinators will reach out to you to connect you with our foster homes.

Take the Pet Home

After meeting with the foster home, they will coordinate with your on how best to deliver the pet to you once all steps have taken place.

You may not be an undergraduate student.

You must be a US citizen or green card holder.

Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
