Hello good people of the Northeast, my name is Pepper and I am a very sweet 8-year-old Dachshund mix now weighing 25 lbs. I had been living in Connecticut with my owner, but when she could no longer get around, I was stuck indoors with nothing to do but eat, sleep, snack, potty, repeat. It wasn't the best lifestyle for me and I blossomed up to about 35 lbs, but I was loved. Later on when she could no longer care for me a kindly neighbor brought me home to foster, and put me on a diet while helping me find a new forever home, and that is where you come in… I am ready to be adopted!
I am a happy and friendly boy, with medium energy, not a couch potato any longer, good with people and other dogs, and I love doggy toys, especially the ones with crinkle sounds. No stuffing, please. I am affectionate, kissy, snuggly, and cuddly, and if you don't mind 25 lbs on your lap, then I’m a lap dog! I am well-behaved and rarely bark, at least until it's mealtime, and then I happily dance and hop and bark for joy when I see my food bowl coming. I don't dig in the yard or eat your things, and I'm housebroken on a schedule. I’ll go for a walk with some encouragement, and a few extra walks will help me maintain my newfound youthful physique. I’m not in love with being kept in a crate, but I will go in when asked. I’d rather be hanging out in my doggy bed or your bed would be even better, hint-hint! So, what do you think? I’m looking for new digs and you are looking for a new dog, I think we should meet!

Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
